Pool Coping & Decking

Coping & Decking

In order to keep modern pools in top condition, swimming pool repair and renovation services are essential in addition to regular maintenance. Common issues that require attention include concrete edges that become too hot or develop cracks, outdated pool aesthetics, and surfaces that are too slippery or uncomfortable to walk on.

What is Pool Coping?

Pool coping refers to the material that encircles the top edge of a swimming pool, and it performs several functions, including protecting the pool shell and leveling the pool with the pool deck. Typically, pool coping materials consist of brick, stone, and concrete. While most public pools feature cantilever concrete coping, there are numerous pool coping ideas that can enhance the aesthetic appeal of your pool.

Brick Pool Coping

Brick pool coping is an affordable and durable option that comes in different colors and shapes. Brick coping is typically finished with a bull nose, which provides a smooth finish with the pool and pool deck.

Stone Pool Coping

Stone pool coping uses natural stone, such as limestone, granite, or fieldstone, which makes it available in different colors and textures. The surface of the stone is sturdy and easy to maintain, and it can help your pool blend seamlessly with your backyard if your pool decking involves natural materials.

What is Pool Decking?

Pool decking refers to the area surrounding your swimming pool. While poured concrete pool decks are standard due to their affordability, several other options are available.

Stamped Concrete

Stamped concrete is a poured concrete consisting of two or more colors. It provides a classic look to your pool deck at a lower cost. Stamped concrete pool decking is sealed, which protects it from potential damage caused by pool chemicals. Moreover, it can mimic other materials such as stone or brick, and texture can be added to it to make it less slippery, especially if you have children.

Pool Deck Pavers

Pool deck pavers are a good option for pool decks because they offer excellent traction, are comfortable to walk on, and are slip-resistant. They can be made from manufactured or natural materials like stone, brick, travertine, or slate. Unlike concrete, pool deck pavers do not crack, and if there is an issue with your pool decking, pavers can be repaired or replaced individually for less cost than replacing the entire pool deck.
